Transportation is central to all our lives – it is how we get to work, doctor appointments, school, gatherings with family and friends, and more. Our transportation system was the envy of the world in the mid-1900s, but now needs a vision and action plan for this century.
MassMoves, a new component of the Massachusetts Senate’s 2017 Commonwealth Conversations, is an initiative to engage citizens across the state in conversations about their ideas for a 21st-century transportation system. Funded by the Barr Foundation, MassMoves is hosting nine public workshops across the state between January and April. State senators and other state, local, and civic leaders will be attending the workshops and are eager to hear your perspectives on values, actions, and priorities for the Commonwealth’s transportation future.
All members of the public are invited to these workshops, which will be facilitated by leaders from the Consensus Building Institute, Raab Associates, and Trimount Consulting.
In addition to the workshops, MassMoves includes opportunities to provide input on a survey and through an online conversation where you can post ideas and comment on others’.
MassMoves will conclude with a final report that provides state, regional, and local decision makers with citizen perspectives on a 21st-century transportation system. The report will include a vision, goals, and common values for the system, as well as an implementation strategy and required next steps.
